Lita Rossana Ford popularly known as Lita Ford, is a British American guitarist vocalist and songwriter who played lead guitar of the all-girl rock band The Runaways in the late 1970s.Their music and their rebellious lyrics helped them get noticed in the rock world. The group was not able to make a significant impact on the scene in their home country of the United States but earned huge recognition abroad, particularly in Japan. Ford was able to enjoy a long and successful career as a heavy-metal solo musician after the group broke up from 1979. Her debut album as a solo artist was 'Dancin' On the Edge and was followed by the album Out for Blood. Her albums weren't very successful and she disappeared for a couple of years. Her smashing hit, 'Lita came out in 1989. Kiss Me Deadly was a big hit, as were the ballad Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. However, her popularity was not long-lasting and she was absent from the industry for several years. The album 'Black' was released in 1995, and 'Wicked Wonderland 15 years afterwards she returned. 2016 saw the release of her most recent studio album "Time Capsule". Guitar Player Magazine presented her with the Certified Guitar Legend Award.

And in 2011, the Gracie Allen Awards awarded her the title of Outstanding Female rising star award in a Drama series or Special for the character she played on The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
