Luciana was born in Rome with her grandparents - Luciana's dad was Manlio Paoluzzi an Italian military officer. Her maternal grandmother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was at one time Benito Mussolini's lovers. Her siblings aren't known. Luciana was a graduate of a local high-school in 1955 and studied naval engineering in Milan, at the Scientific Academy of Milan. Luciana as the sole female student in the class, was the very first student to complete her studies. Luciana started out as fashion models after only two years. The direction of her career was changed following, and by luck, she was offered her first part on screen in Three Coins in the Fountain. Brett Halsey, an actor himself, was her first wife. The couple got married in the year 1960 and filmed the film Return to the Peyton Palace. Luciana was given custody of Charles, born 13 June 1961. They divorced the following year. Luciana was married to Tony Athony. They were together between 1962-1970. Tony Athony was an actor and producer who was inspired by Luciana's contribution to the film Green Slime. Based on this, he produced and composed The Spaghetti Western hybrid that became popular.
